Hello

Best Diet Books That Aren't...

Gina here from Home Bodies!

First, I would like to take a moment to acknowledge the subscribers who are from Greater Boston, an area that has been hit by torrential downpours that is resulting in devestating flooding in many areas. I am praying for those affected by this tragedy. Best of luck to everyone who is affected.

Most people who are interested in diet and exercise purchase a number of diet books over the years. Unfortunately, many of them aren't even worth the paper they are printed on, because they are filled with information and they essentially hype fads more than they teach healthy weight loss techniques.

I don't believe that the average person benefits much from reading diet books. The reason is that most people get stuck in perpetual "planning" mode (via reading and thinking about what they should do) and fail to reach and sustain "action" mode (when they actually change their behaviors and implement a plan). However, if you intend to actually do some of the things these books suggest, diet books can be a worthwhile investment of time and money--at least, that's true for diet books that contain sound advice. Unfortunately these are few and far between, but I have some personal recommendations for you here, as well as some recommendations from a registered dietician. WebMD Director of Nutrition Kathleen Zelman recommends some additional diet books for healthy, lasting weight loss. These books all have one thing in common: like the books I've listed in the link above, they aren't really about diets at all, which is what makes them so great. They teach you how to change your lifestyle in a way that caters to your tastes and eating preferences yet still allows you to lose weight. Dietitian Picks 8 Favorite Diet Books

While the books recommended in the links above and in the WebMD article give you psychological tips as well as actual nutrition tips and strategies, nothing quite brings the mental aspect of dieting together with the physical requirements like Gina's book, Mind Over Fatter. Mind Over Fatter is on sale for 25% off until Friday night, May 19th at midnight. Use coupon code EZINESALE1 when you order at the 'Home Bodies' shopping cart to receive the discount!
